Let's face it, often the events and activities we participate in with family and friends can cost a pretty penny. BUT it doesn’t have to. Let's be resourceful! It’s a beautiful day to try something new, don’t you agree? From picnics to roller skating and everything in between, take advantage of the list I've put together to have fun in and all the way around Charlotte, on a budget!

*Crowders Mountain: Gastonia, NC

Feeling adventurous?  Crowders Mountain is the perfect place to spend the whole day either rock climbing, hiking or even fishing by the wooded lake in the center of the park (permit required).  If low key is what you’re looking for, how about a simple picnic on the park grounds with family and friends?  Lots to do here folks!  https://www.ncparks.gov/crowders-mountain-state-park

*Kate's Skate-locations in Indian Trail, NC & Gastonia, NC

Roller Skating anyone?  Dependent on the day and time you go, admission and skate rental can total as little as $7! Reasonably priced family packages including admission, skate rentals pizza and drinks are also offered.  Check out Kate’s website for themes and days that fun are being held! Don't miss out on the family fun! https://katesonline.com/

*Reedy Creek Park & Nature Preserve-Charlotte, NC

With over 10 miles of hiking trails within the protected 927 acres of natural forested habitat, the outdoor enthusiast will enjoy exploring the variety of terrain. Small lakes, fields, streams and wildlife fill the landscape. Start exploring! https://www.mecknc.gov/ParkandRec/StewardshipServices/NatureCenters/Pages/Reedy.aspx

*The Evening Muse-Charlotte, NC

Concert Experience anyone?  I've got you covered.  This little hot spot in NODA (North Davidson) features live music from mostly independent artists and the cost for tickets ranges anywhere from $5-$12.  Pretty reasonable I'd say for an intimate quality music experience.  Don't miss the melodies!  https://www.eveningmuse.com/

*Charlotte Mecklenburg Library- Charlotte, NC

For the art lover, take advantage of the recently renovated public library which features a variety of rotating exhibits in the MAIN BRANCH.  Completely free and open to the public, visitors are offered a huge database of information as well as special displays of art collections in the Library's display room. https://www.cmlibrary.org/branch/main-library
